Absolutely blown away by this restaurant! I’ve dined many times in Barangaroo, and have always had a disappointing experience. But my first incredible dining experience in Barangaroo was at Manjits Wharf. Everything from the interior, the delicious food, and the impeccable service was outstanding. It was a cold day and we were sitting by the windows and our server brought us a portable heater without me having to even ask or comment on how cold it was! They absolutely go above and beyond.
We ordered the Signature Barrah Kebabs (lamb cutlets), Amritsari Machli (fried fish fillets), the Butter Chicken, the Signature Baingan Takatak (smoking eggplant curry), Indian summer cocktail, Floral Delight cocktail, the Kaala Jamun (Indian donuts) and the Rasmalai (milk dumplings). Everything was delicious, but my favourites were the lamb cutlets, the Butter Chicken, the Floral Delight cocktail and the Indian donuts.
I love good quality Indian food and this place definitely delivers! Not only does this restaurant have a beautiful setting over looking King Street wharf, each dish is so beautifully presented, reminiscent of artwork with the use of palette like plates & splashes of colour from the sauces. There are so many delicious sounding dishes & it was hard to decide but every entree I ordered were delicious mouthfuls revving up your appetite. These dishes are small compared with the heavier, more generous main dishes which were such a highlight! The lamb shoulder curry was fork tender with a deep, earthy flavour. Utterly delicious. The Butter chicken had a rich, slightly spicy sauce & the tender, chunky pieces of chicken had a beautiful orange ring around it from cooking in the tandoor oven. The naan is so light & fluffy its easy to devour it on its own & I had to order it twice as it was so good! The Indian donuts with rose ice cream for dessert is delicious and super sweet. Loved the mango lassi here which is thick, creamy & pretty and a wine list with a great selection & prices was easy to choose from. To top it off the service was so friendly & attentive. Highly enjoyable!
Indian cuisine but not as you know it. The decor is beautiful with amazing 180 degrees water view at King Street Wharf.
We spent a very enjoyable afternoon here as guests for lunch, tasting some delicious traditional dishes such as their curries (prawn malabari and butter chicken) as well as some dishes with a more modern ‘Manjit’ twist on classics, we left the decision making to the staff who were friendly and helpful.
Our favourites were their modern dishes such as their layered lamb and chicken mince kebab with spices cooked in their charcoal tandoori oven and pyaaj ka phool (onion flower coated in chickpea flour topped with colourful dips) which I highly recommend.
Their mocktails were also fantastic and great with the food on a hot day. Great experience, we would love to come again with a group of friends and try their banquet menu next time.
